Feeling Crafty...

Well, I was feeling crafty today. So…..I decided to teach myself to sew. Yeah I know, sounds interesting huh? Cloth and pattern bought and cut out. That was the easy part.  Borrowed mom's sewing machine (that I bought her for mother's day one year). And did the whole bobbin thing and threading the needle thing. Watched a bunch of YouTube videos about beginning to sew. Felt ready to try it and made one whole line. Then disaster struck… I am not sure what exactly happened but loads of thread ended up all junked up under my cloth. Therefore, I think I will try again tomorrow with renewed excitement. I am over it for today.
Notice the large pile of jumbled/tangled stuff in the background.

While I was feeling crafty, Reagan was awesome and entertained herself for over an hour. Not sure what exactly she was doing so long in her tunnel, but whatever works huh?

I have been doing the whole counting to three thing with Reagan. I asked her to pick up something and she didn't listen. I then began to count and she stopped looked up and said, "Wait, wait, wait!! Don't say three! Im getting it!!!" I just had to walk out of the room so she couldn't see me laughing. Later, I put some Dora gummy bears (her version of crack) on her high chair. She came running and told me a fairy came and left her a prize!  I am LOVING her imagination these days. It's amazing what she can come up with.

Weekend Update

The Lightsey's had an awesome weekend. Friday night was Mexican at our house courtesy of the hubs. Reagan is happy anytime we let her eat cheese dip. And I mean that sweet baby LOVES some cheese dip. This is a picture with her favorite pig plate. TC tried to eat something off it one day and she had a total meltdown because it's HER plate!

Standing in the chair.
Her new favorite thing to do that drives me crazy.

And yes, those are all my Christmas cards on the wall in the background. I love looking at them and know it's about time they go. Saturday TC, his dad, Bill-Bill and Uncle Rob headed to ATL to watch Supercross. So what else was there to do but go shopping all day? MeeMee accompanied Reagan and I to the Galleria for an all day shopping extravaganza. Reagan racked up on a million spring and summer outfits thanks to MeeMee. I got some cute new stuff too. Reagan pretty much thought the escalator was the best thing she had ever done. She wanted to ride those "movin steps" over and over. We also rode the carousel which made her day.

This is her new smile I've been getting lately…

Sunday ended perfectly with a phenomenal church service. It was one of those that you just felt like was just for you. I am still thinking about it today. All about trusting God and his plan for you. Something both TC and I struggle with at times. We are planners people!!!

Some Reagan funnies as of late:
*She had TC's phone typing stuff and he said "hey what are you doing", to which she replied,"I'am texting mommy!!"

*She loves getting out of the bath and running thru the house naked. The other day I got her pajamas on and she said "Wait, I forgot to streak daddy!!" OMG yes, she knows what streaking is!

*She currently thinks if she gets in trouble coming to give you a kiss will get her out of it. (I think it actually works for her 100% 50% of the time)

*She always tells me her friend John Michael eats her food at school. Well the other day after I dropped her off, I was watching thru the door. She walked straight over to him and handed him her whole cereal bar to eat and then started playing. I asked her about it that afternoon and she informed me that he was "weally hungry"

*She is singing to her baby dolls lately. I'am pretty sure it's the cutest thing I have ever seen and/or heard.

Ballet

Well today we started back to ballet. OHMYLORD do we LOVE ballet! She literally talks about it all the time. She is obsessed with her dance teacher Ms. Molly Brooke. I think Ms. MB is pretty stinkin cool too. She hops all around that room with so much energy and she loves her babies. She is one of the sweetest people I have met and she truly loves her job. With that being said, she earns every bit of what we pay for Mommy and Me ballet. Five 2 year olds will wear you out! I do have to brag though, because today Reagan kicked butt. She listened and busted out all the right moves on que. She danced to the music and waited for her turn. I was one proud momma. I pumped her up the whole way there with a pep talk. (I am big into pep talks with her these days….Not quite sure if they work?) Anyway, another successful day at the Lightsey's.

Waiting for her turn!

I am sure after watching this video you will see the raw talent….

Day Two and Three

So the rest of our Gaitlinburg trip was perfect. Being on a trip with all your best friends is fun no matter where you go. We probably could have slept in tents and have been just as happy. We ate, slept, and drank TONS. We went to all the gaudy little shops and browsed before eating lunch Friday. After that we hit up the cowboy boot store where you bought one pair and got two free. Not as great of a deal as it sounds. Although, I did buy Reagan 3 pairs of boots in different sizes to grow into. (Cowboy boots are currently on her list of favorite things.)

Saturday a group drove up to Asheville, North Carolina to the Biltmore. I opted out of that to go antiquing with Shelley and Leigh. We ended up at the craziest flea market I have ever seen. It had a little bit of everything for sure. My favorite item for sale? A Sugar Glider! It looked like a little flying squirrel with wings. I mean do people really buy those?

After our adventures in junk, we ended up meeting the boys at a place called Wonderworks. It was a museum type place with lots of fun activities. We all waited inline for over an hour for a "ropes challenge". Basically they put you in a harness and you go up in the ceiling and walk around on ropes. Did I mention you had to sign a waiver? That should have been my first clue. IT WAS SO SCARY!! I did not think I had a fear of heights, but obviously I do. I have never been so happy to see the ground again in my life. I think Leigh was the only other person who was feeling my pain. I think we both wanted to lay on the ground and not move when we finally got there.

So there was a ton more fun and funny stories, but I am not sure all my BFF's want those all over the internet. Plus I may need some for blackmail in the future.

Day One

Well night one in Gaitlinburg has been a success! We have an enormous house and we all have our own rooms with bathrooms. There are 10 bedrooms and 11 baths. TC lost a bet to Bill about how long it would take to get here. Therefore Bill got to shave Tcs face. It's not cute! The boys are cooking breakfast for us this morning and we have big plans. First stop is indoor skydiving!! I am so excited about that. I may change my mind later. Here are a few pics from yesterday and this morning.

Valentine's Day

Well I personally LOVE LOVE LOVE Valentines Day. I have always had a mom and dad who made it special and a treat. I woke up knowing I would have a "special" day when I was little. There was always a surprise and candy. I loved going to school and having a v-day party and getting all those little cards. It was just exciting! So now as a mom I want that for Reagan. I want her to get excited about it and enjoy the little things. So, oh boy was I a happy camper when this morning she woke up and said, "Hey momma! it's Valentines Day!!" I immediately got up and got her bag of goodies she could open before TC had to leave for work. He left about 6:50 this morning and she and I had devoured the box of disney princess chocolates by 7:05. She also got a new little puppy, a new book and tons more candy. Oh yeah, and a new Hello Kitty toothbrush to work against all the candy I bought.

With that being said, I have a hubby who HATES v-day. His thought is that you should not have to buy your significant other a present because everybody else does. OK, I get it, I really do. But after being married 3 years and dating way longer than that he has figured it out. He just comes home with some flowers, a card and most importantly something for baby girl. Good job husband, good job! I know it drives him crazy, but he does it cause he knows that I care.

So all in all it was a great day. We visited with grandmother, grandaddy and Janice. Then had a surprise visit from Poppa with more v-day gifts. And yes, I am 26 years old and my momma and daddy still make my day special with "prizes".

Happy Valentines Day Yall!

Weekend Update

Well, it was just as good of a weekend as I had hoped. Not to brag on the hubs and give him a big head or anything, but dinner Saturday night was phenomenal! We had a total of 13 adults and 2 two-year olds. Tons of food and tons of laughter and fun. TC and I LOVE to have people over to do dinner and cook. Needless to say the old house was just way to small for huge gatherings, or more than 5 people in general. The new house isn't huge and grand, but it's cozy and there is more room. I am a people person and like being surrounded by familiar friends. And just to brag on all my great friends. WOW, do I have great friends. They love me, my baby and my hubs way more than we deserve. We are the only ones to currently have a little one around….(Ray is going to have some competition in the near future!!) but as for right now she gets all the attention. And can I say between her uncle Bill Bill, uncle Robert and Uncle Rob she is rotten. They love her and ohmylord does she love them. She likes her aunties too, but for sure loves her uncles. She constantly asks TC and I throughout the week where they all are and what they are doing. We usually make something random up. For example, Bill Bill is probably feeding Alleigh and Lucy and Uncle Bobert (Robert) is probably playing golf. She has been a little upset with Uncle Rob, but after last night and him appearing with two (yes TWO) boxes of Dora the Explorer gummies she asked where he was about 20 times today! She then proceeded to say she loved and missed him. So Rob if you read this, I think she's over it.

This morning (Sunday) we went with Robert, Anna Claire, Bill and Leigh to the church they have been attending. It was Church of the Highlands, the satellite one, in Tuscaloosa. I have to admit, I am the first person to be intimidated by "visiting" other people's churches. But today was awesome. I think every person I looked at smiled and welcomed me. It was not uncomfortable, it was not intimidating and it was not awkward. All the things I dreaded or had made up in my head it could be. Definitely different than what we are use to, but different in a good way. We loved it, and to say the least the Lightsey's will be going again. Thanks friends for encouraging us to come and check it out.

Reagan's random funnies from this week:
-She had to go to the bathroom at Newks during lunch today, so we are crammed in this little stall together. The door opened and someone else walked in. She then asked what that noise was and when I said it was the door she said,"yeap, it's prolly uncle Robert"

-laying in bed tonight she said, "momma, uncle bill bill has a beard (insert pause) it's all over his face"

-I put a new picture of TC driving the boat in a frame this week. It is from his waist up and he is smiling. When she noticed it she immediately said, "Look momma! Daddy's naked in that picture!"

-She informed me today she was "speaking spanish". I am going to assume that's from Dora, but she was definitely not speaking spanish because it was plain english.

Japanese Night

I am blogging at 6:45 am for lack of anything better to do. Reagan obviously did not get the memo that its Saturday morning. Although, I will give her the fact she is laying down and watching cartoons. I am excited for today. TC got a huge wok a few Christmas' ago and he can make some dang good Japanese food. He fries rice in his big ole wok and cooks chicken, steak and shrimp. It's a process for sure, so we only do it when we have a bunch of people over. So tonight is Japanese night at the Lightsey's. Should be a good time. Hopefully I will actually snap a few pictures with my camera. I have officially worn TC down and he has agreed to get me A NEW ONE!!!! Wahooo… I am so pumped for this, but I have agreed to wait until after our G'burg trip next weekend. More blogs about that cause it's going to be AWESOME!!! We are heading to Gaitlinburg with 14 of our friends for the weekend. I can't reveal details about the house cause its a surprise to everyone but Bill, Leigh and I. I would like to insert here I have been a really good secret keeper Bill, thanks for trusting me HAH!!

Um? Does it have to have a tittle?

Well I finally figured out how to add music to the blog after messing with it all morning. I must say, it gives it a little "zing". I am totally feeling sentimental today about life and all that surrounds it. I am enjoying the day with my sweet girl just playing and "tending" AKA pretending things! She is totally going wild with her imagination these days and tells me great things like "LOOK!! I see a dolphin in the lake!" I LOVE age 2. Ok, maybe not all the time like when she has a meltdown about something random like she didn't want that chip she wanted this chip. But overall its amazing. She is sweet and loving and gives hugs and kisses all day. She demands you "go to her room" and makes you sit and read for hours. And I mean she will sit there for hours if you will just read.

A few days ago she came running into the kitchen from Murphy and he was hot on her trail. She nor I realized she had sat in one of her "my little pony" gummies and it was stuck to her butt. Murph found it and was proceeding to try to eat it. She began wailing in typical Reagan fashion "Murhpy won't stop lickin my butt!!" Yes, I fell out in the floor laughing. It will forever more be one of my favorite memories.

Just a random 2 Pic.
Happy Friday eve yall!

Murphy

Well I usually talk about Reagan, but this post is dedicated to good ole' Murphy Lightsey himself. He is the bomb dog. I started begging TC for a dog when we first got married. I knew I wanted a soft coated wheaton terrier because some friends of ours had one and I fell in love. He eventually gave in cause that's what newly weds do! I did my research and ordered Murphy straight off the internet and paid with paypal! Gotta love this generation huh? He flew to the Birmingham Airport all the way from Nebraska.
Coming home from the Airport (He flew Delta)

Well needless to say he is a HUGE part of our lives. He has been the sweetest thing to Reagan and lets her do whatever she wants to him all the time. She pulls his tongue, sits on him, hits him and pulls his tail constantly. And you know what? He just sits there. Her newest thing is "feeding" him. Mostly that means making him eat one piece of dog food at a time out of her hand. Poor dog.
His first snow.

Now he has not always been an easy dog. He has done his share of "dog things". Like, running away and getting stuck in the neighbors fence and chewing up our favorite shoes. But overall he is one good dog and I seriously love him. He is sometimes weird and likes to lick the vents. Yes, lick vents. Like the ones on the floor of our house. He especially likes it when they blow air. So we affectionally call him "vent licker". The funniest thing is to hear Reagan walk thru the house and say "oh look momma! Murphy is being a vent licker!!" Its hilarious.
Yes he lays in our lap like this. He's a big ole baby!

Wherever we are in the house, that is where he is. He sleeps with TC and I in our room but we have been trying to get him to stay with Reagan in her room. He's just not having it. So here's to the Murphster, vent licker, ricky retardo, brother and affectionally "dipshit". Those are just a few of his nicknames. We love him ALOT and our house would not be the same without him!
The "cone of shame" when he got his man parts removed.

Riding on the boat. His fav thing in this world!
Loving his new sister! Where have 2 years gone?
She wasn't sure at this point…
The end!
WE LOVE YOU MURPH!
