ABC's

So I think my kid has her ABC's down pat. This is a hilarious video of her singing in the bathtub and I can't stop watching it!

Weekend Update

We started out the weekend on a great note. Well I did at least, because I had my hair done after work. It was a nasty cold day and nothing makes me happier than sitting in that chair getting a new do.

Saturday morning Reagan got up around 8 and played for awhile. Then in a miraculous moment she came to me and said,"lets get back in bed and snuggle". Of course I happily agreed and back to sleep we went till almost 11!! This is a once in a lifetime happening at our house and I couldn't believe it. TC went to work for a few hours to get some extra stuff done, so Reagan and I hung around the house and played.

Saturday night we went to dinner with Meemee and Pa at Wings, then over to visit all our long lost friends. We got to see Grey, Bill, Leigh, Carli, Chase, Anna Claire and Robert. It was such a fun night relaxing and seeing some of our best friends.

Sunday morning we got up early and headed to church. When we left, we went to grandmothers for Sunday lunch. It was delicious BBQ and baked beans.

Sunday afternoon we went to some friends of ours little boy's first birthday. It was the cutest sock monkey theme and Reagan loved it. They all got stuffed sock monkeys as favors and the kids were so pumped. They all were running thru the house playing.

All in all such a nice relaxing weekend after the craziness of the Holidays. It was perfect. (Only pics I have from the weekend are from my phone....)

Christmas Morning 2012

At our house we did not put a lot of emphasis on Santa coming this year. Reagan obviously knows about Santa but we didn't stress over it. We would mention it and she would bring it up occasionally, but never to an extreme. We tried to talk alot about baby Jesus and his birthday and the actual Christmas story. She asked a bunch of really good questions and you can see the wheels starting to turn in her mind as she begins to comprehend the actual meaning of Christmas.

We had our elf on the shelf, but she could have cared less. She would get excited every once in awhile but overall ignored the elf. When we would ask her what she wanted for Christmas she would say nothing!! Honestly, the kid would not tell us a thing she wanted. She would say she didn't want Santa to come. Well low and behold on Christmas morning she proved her point.

She was surprised to wake up and find my parents and TC's parents in the den waiting on her. She didn't even glance under the Christmas tree and barely wanted a thing to do with her presents. It took her about an hour to even wander over there to glance at them. We finally convinced her to open up a few and she was just not interested. I think she was proving her point to us that she just didn't care a thing about good ole St. Nick and all his glory.

After she decided that she had stuff she might as well open it, she got into the spirit. She would get so excited about one thing it would have to come out of the box that very second. Her favorite gift has been the new stroller. She LOVES it and has played with it constantly. How blessed we are to have celebrated this Christmas season with her! It's so wonderful to see it thru her eyes.

I was good too this year!

The Holiday's

The weeks leading up to Christmas have been eventful to say the least. We have had all kinds of fun activities and Christmas parties going on. Here is a basic recap.

We went to the Academy of Ballet and Jazz Christmas party and they revealed the theme of the Spring performance. It's Cinderella and all the girls were thrilled. Reagan's recital outfit is purple and black and sparkly. All things she loves!

One weekend I went with two of my girlfriends to see The Nutcracker. I was so impressed with the Tuscaloosa Community Dancers. They put on a fabulous show and I was very entertained. The costumes and backdrops were excellent.

We had our last small group Christmas celebration with some wonderful church friends we have really grown to know and love this past semester.

We survived the stomach bug AND the flu! Both of which I would not wish on my worst enemy.

I wasn't able to go to Reagan's Christmas party at school so TC stepped in. Reagan was thrilled that her daddy showed up and had lunch with her. She has mentioned it a few times since then.

We celebrated Christmas with my side of the family. Everyone came to our house this year and it was so much fun. A huge THANK YOU to my mother who helped me get the house cleaned and organized since I was down for the count from the flu. Here are a few pictures from those festivities.

Polar Express

SO I've been having some blogging technical difficulties over here at The Lightsey's. Fingers crossed they are cleared up. Therefore, that is why there have been no blog posts in weeks.

So about two weeks before Christmas is where I shall begin.

Saturday morning of Dec 8 we got up and headed to Bham to do a little shopping. I think we stayed in the Bass Pro Shop for 2 hours. That place is surprisingly really fun. We left there and drove over to Calera to ride the Polar Express. We bought these tickets way back in July and they sold out within a week. It's a very big deal for those of you who don't know this!

She was so excited!
Reagan and Anna Claire
We went with our friends Justin and Lindsey, their boys Brenton and Lane, Josh and Lindsey, "little Anta Claire" and also the Corders. The kids all wore their pajamas and looked SOOO cute. We were headed up the tracks to the North Pole to see Santa. TC and I had bets on whether or not Reagan would  freak out when Santa got near her. She looks at him at the mall, but doesn't want to get near him.
Ready to ride!
Our sweet family!
When the train pulled up to the North Pole, Santa and Mrs. Claus were standing outside waving. Reagan and Anna Claire had an absolute fit to see them. We had to wait our turn and they were beside themselves. When it was finally our turn Anna Claire went first. The good news for Josh and Lindsey is that she asked for a ball!! (Sounds like a pretty easy Christmas to me!)
Waiting for Santa

The train ride was so much fun and truly "magical". All the kids loved it and really thought we were in the North Pole. They even had TC singing Christmas songs on the way there. This is one tradition I hope we have for many years to come!

Weekend update...on a Tuesday?

Well.... It all started last Thursday night. The stomach bug hit and it was all over with. I woke up and ran to the bathroom at 11:40pm. Needless to say I never made it to work Friday and slept the entire day away.

Saturday it was over, and I had lost 5 lbs and all was right with my world again! We had a great day followed by an amazing football game. Roll Tide!! Reagan and I stayed home to watch because I was being superstitious. (Thank goodness for that!) After the game we went to Zaxbys to celebrate our win then came home.

Sunday I was so excited for church and got up early to get dressed. I was all clean and pressed when my sweet Reagan woke up walked straight into the bathroom and puked chunks all over my white bathroom rug and my feet.... Errr?

Needless to say, you cannot tell when a 3 year old is about to blow, but I tell you one thing. She managed to hit me with it EVERY SINGLE TIME!! I went ahead to church because I had friends coming for the first time and left TC home with Reagan.

Got home from church and she hit me with it again. Literally, saved it up and hit me with it when I walked in. I pretty much sat in a chair the whole day and rocked her. A treat I never get anymore!!

Sunday night TC and I had to run to a small meeting for church. Mom came and stayed with Reagan. Unfortunately TC left before it was over and I knew he was next. So we walked back into the house Sunday night and Reagan says,"mommy hold me!" I picked her up and she pukes all down me again! Seriously y'all, got my neck all the way to my boots I had on. Ughhhh AMAZING!! Anyways, needless to say, TC never made it to work Monday.

Also a shout out to my momma for keeping Reagan for me on Monday! I didn't want to send her to school just in case she had a relapse or was still a carrier monkey!!

It is now Tuesday and we are cloroxed and lysoled up around here. Fingers crossed we have served our time and its done with us.

Reagan's Funnies

Some of Reagan's funnies lately:

In the bathtub:
Me: "Reagan stop drinking the water!"
Her: "why? I didn't even pee in it!?"

Riding in the car:
"Ohmylord!, I see a big dragon running beside us!"
She was being dead serious y'all!

She walked outside in the cold yesterday and said, "OHMYJEEEZUS, It's freezing!! HAVE MERCY!!"
I almost feel off the porch I was laughing so hard.

Reagan: "momma, do I have a father? "
(She'd never heard that term)
Me: "yes! That's the same as daddy"
Reagan:"well who is it then?"
Me:"your daddy! You know TC?"
Reagan:"oooh TC? That's my real daddy?"
*and of course she asks this in front if people I don't know!!

Reagan: "Momma, I'm not going to your wedding!!"
Me: "ok, we'll you don't have to since I'm already married"
Reagan:"you are? Where's your husband?"
Me:"it's your daddy"
Reagan:"ooooh he's the husband too? I thought he was just my daddy…"

And lastly a cheer from the Iron Bowl!!

Weekend Update

This weekend was great. Last Thursday we enjoyed Thanksgiving in Tuscaloosa. We had lunch with my family and dinner with TC's. We are blessed! My paw paw Bobby goes all out on his decorations and he let Reagan and her cousin Lilly turn on the lights and watch the blow ups all light up. They loved it and Reagan wanted her picture taken with EVERY SINGLE ONE!
Loving the decorations!
TC cooked and carved
the turkey!
Reagan worked on the
dressing forever!
Friday we did a little shopping. Only two stores since I have bought most things online. I am over halfway done and plan to be finished soon. Friday night was so great. (see best friends post from yesterday)

Saturday TC and I got to sleep late, then we had a great family day just hanging around and being lazy. I never even left the house except to go to Catfish Charlie's to pick up dinner. They have some great catfish down highway 43 if your ever in the neighborhood. Lastly we LOVED watching the Bama game. The iron bowl was great. I couldn't have asked for our team to do any better.
Cheering on the Tide
Cee Cee and Poppa sent us a pic
from the game
Sunday we got up bright and early for church. We had a great sermon followed by lunch at Jim and Nicks. Sunday afternoon we rode up to Lake Harris to surprise Patrick for his birthday. Eileen had bought him some new hiking boots as a present and they went on hike. At the end of the hike we were there with his family, cake and all the dogs. It was a great afternoon.

For dinner we all went to Anna Claire and Roberts for some Taco soup. I am so thankful for this group of friends in our lives. My last announcement is that TC is no longer participating in No Shave November. His beard is officially gone. (Although it's in the Christmas card pictures) Here's a photo shoot of him having a little fun with it. All day Saturday he kept only his mustache. I could not even look at him without dying laughing… He seriously looked just like Mario!

Best Friends!

This past Friday night was a great night for me. Some of my closest high school and college friends were all in town for the holidays. These are the people who will always be my best friends because they know way to many of my secrets! We are all never in the same place for long, so for us all to be together on Friday was a big deal.

For two years a bunch of us lived in the same apartment complex in college. These were the BEST times of my life and if I could relive them I would. We were together all the time and made some of my best memories. I cherish those relationships and memories to this day.

This is also a group that I don't have to talk to daily. When we are together we pick up right back where we left off. It feels like nothing changed. These are people I will hold dear in my heart forever!

In the end we had TC and myself, Rodney and his wife Lacey, Chase (who lives in ATL now), Jason (who is currently in California), Perryn (our New Yorker), Krystal (who lives in Fairhope,AL), and Layne and Stephanie who are both still here in Ttown. I am so glad to have had this night with some important people in my life!!

Sorry for such terrible quality pictures. We were working with iPhones!

Weekend Update

Such a great family filled weekend. Friday night mom and dad came up for dinner. We cooked red beans and rice and it was AWESOME! Mom and TC helped me put up my Christmas tree and a few lights, along with some garland. There aren't any ornaments yet, but we are getting there.

Saturday morning we got up bright and early to head to Sylacauga for family thanksgiving on dad's side. We also tried for some Christmas card pics which turned out awful. They had to be redone!! We had a great lunch with our fam and got to visit with our cousins. TC couldn't join us due to a last minute work emergency, so we missed him.

Oh wait, I forgot
to take off my sunglasses...
Saturday night TC, Wes and I sat up yelling at the TV cheering for Baylor and Samford. THANK YOU for that boys!

Sunday we got up extra early to make it to Krispy Kreme before church. Then a wonderful service followed by lunch. We did a little shopping then headed to Anna Claire's 3rd Birthday party. The girls had a blast and AC got tons of cute stuff. It was a fun weekend and relaxing. I am super excited for Thanksgiving this week. It is going to be relaxed and laid back. We don't have to rush all over town and stress over the times. For that, I am THANKFUL!

A new dog...

So a few weeks ago I received an email from a friend of a friend who had a soft coated wheaten terrier just like Murphy. They were looking for a new home for him since they had recently moved and he wasn't able to be outside. They wanted to know if we knew of anyone who might like him. Of course I instantly wanted him. (What girl doesn't want another animal?)

TC was on board, so we decided on a trial run over the weekend. Needless to say, he's never gone home! He and murph had a few issues in the beginning deciding who was the "alpha" male, but have now become best friends. They play all day everyday. Charlie is 6 years old and super snuggly. He even sleeps in the bed with us most nights. Right before we got him he had a slight mishap at the groomers so his hair is super short right now.

He's an awesome squirrel hunter and a better guard dog than Murphy! He has fit in so well with our family. I never thought I would have two big dogs inside but I do. Thank goodness they don't shed!
