ZBB

SO for those of you who don't my husband well, you won't know this fun fact. He is obsessed with the Zach Brown Band. Well, awhile back he and his BFF Bill went to a concert in Starkville. They obviously had the best day of their lives (other than their wedding days duh). They brag about it all the time just to make their other friend Rob jealous…Kidding Rob. I hope you read this. Anyways, so the other day TC and I were driving down the road and I forgot to give him this little package that came in the mail. He opened it driving down the road and was so stinkin excited. As I looked over I saw this little jewel.

That's right people, his "Zamily" membership pin to place on his lanyard. You probably just think I am writing this because I am jealous. But, in fact, I am just a proud wifey. 

Cellophane

Adventures in living with a two year old continues. She is all about "DOING IT MYSELF" these days. It's funny and messy at the same time. Most days I just go with the flow and let her do her thing. That means food everywhere, spilled drinks and backwards clothes. She is only 2 and already telling me "NO mommy, that not cute!!" "I wear this".  She is very opinionated about what she wears already. I thought I would get to pick out her clothes until at least kindergarden. Not looking like it though.

Secondly, she is having sleeping in her own bed issues these days. It starts out fine and then somewhere around 12:00 she just wakes up and freaks out! Literally screams bloody murder and if you don't get in there fast enough, she is already standing in our room! Therefore, either TC or I end up sleeping in her twin bed half the night. We usually end up with sore backs and freezing because she is a cover hog. Did I mention she won't let you lay on her actual pillow? I sleep on a monkey pillow pet.

In other news. TC had some cellophane he was wrapping blocks of brick at our house with. Reagan was loving it and TC asked her if she wanted to be wrapped up too? Of course, she said yes. So….we wrapped our kid in cellophane!!

Weekend Update

Absolutely amazing weekend AGAIN! Friday night our good friends Josh, Lindsey and "little" Anna Claire came for dinner. The girls were great and they truly love each other so much. Reagan was having a little issue with sharing (hmmm get that from her mamma?). But we had some life lessons and realized that, in fact, it is ok to let others play with your toys! These pictures are from the other day when we played. I didn't grab my camera last night. But you can see how stinkin cute these two are.

Saturday we had a plan. Operation work on the back porch.  I wasn't really any help at all, but TC did an amazing job. He fixed the bottom half of the porch so Reagan will not be able to fall off as easily. (She probably can still get off if she wanted to). Saturday afternoon CeeCee came to get R and they had a spend the night party. She loved it of course. TC and I went out to dinner with "big Anna Claire", Robert, Bill-Bill and Leigh. I am a big fan of adult dinners these days. Eating with a two year old means you DO NOT enjoy your meal. 

Sunday we got up and went to church then out to lunch with CeeCee and Poppa. This was followed by the rubber ducky derby to benefit CHOM (Children's Hands on Museum). It was really cute and Reagan enjoyed it.

So that is all! We are back home enjoying our beautiful back porch. Planning on cooking out and going to be early!! Happy weekend everyone!

Imagination

Imagination is turning into a great thing in the Lightsey house. Reagan is constantly talking to her babies, asking them questions then telling me what they said. For example: "Baby, you gonna eat supper? Uh huh, yeah….momma this baby wants to eat cookies for supper." It cracks me up. She also sits in her little pink car and pretends she's going to the grocery store.

She sits in this car for hours talking to herself….

Lately she is also all about names. She wants to know my real name and everybody else she can think of. She knows that my real name is Meg so lately, if she calls me and I don't immediately come she starts screaming "Hey MEGGGGGGG, come here puuuwease!!!" 

In other absolutely unimportant news: 

-We started swimming lessons and she did AWESOME! She hopped right in the pool and was going under the water after 10 minutes.

-I don't own swimwear appropriate for swimming lessons! I need a new tankini/one piece!

-I haven't cooked one meal this week, after I wrote on my blog I was going to cook 4 days a week…Whoops. I plan on redeeming myself next week.

-I can't sew….yet. But I am still working on that. I didn't expect it to happen overnight. 

-I backed into a power line. Yes, I said power line and messed up my bumper on the tahoe. I am still sick to my stomach over it because it was a stupid mistake. But hey, it could have been worse. 

HAPPY ALMOST WEEKEND! 

Nap Time

OK, I give up. Reagan wins. SHE WILL NOT TAKE A NAP. I am going crazy. I just need 30 minutes without a little person following me around. I am currently forcing her to lay on the couch. She in turn is continuing to talk. NON-STOP. I told her she could get up in 30 minutes. Since she is two that means NOTHING to her! She said, "OK mommy, I tink its prolly been a minute!" Um…..where does she get these things?

With that being said. I love listening to her talk to herself. It's like a running commentary of my day. Mommy, you going in the kitchen? Oh, you getting a drink….Now you going to potty? It's hilarious. She just follows me around commenting on WHATEVER I happen to be doing at that moment. And if you try to shut the bathroom door for a second of alone time? Well forget it. She aint letting that happen! She has figured out how to open the doors. I knew that day was coming and I dreaded it. Well it's here.

She is all about wearing two bows lately. 

As much as I want her to go to sleep right now I also have to just laugh. She knows she isn't allowed to get up off the couch so she keeps sitting up looking at me and grinning. She just said, "don't worry momma, I won't fall asleep!" "Can I get up?" Oh yeah and she has figured out the ole, "I need to potty" trick to get up. Oh lord give me strength!!! 

Weekend Update

Well our weekend getaway to Chattanooga was absolutely fabulous! Our sweet girl LOVED the aquarium. She would just get so excited she would scream. Literally scream, "Hey FISHIES!!!"  And I will brag that she was a phenomenal car rider. She was perfect on the way up and back. We left Friday after work and got to Tennessee about 10pm. We spent all day at the aquarium Saturday and had a short visit to Ruby Falls on Sunday. We didn't actually go down in the cave. I am obsessed with my new camera. I can't get enough of taking pictures. I will let the pics speak for themselves.

Projects

So we have many projects going on to get the outside of the house ready for SUMMER! We have such easy access to the lake and a cute little dock. Here's a picture off our back deck. How awesome huh?

Notice all the bald spots in the yard? We are working on that.

TC has been working on the deck to get it sanded and re-painted then we plan on buying  a few outdoor rugs and some furniture. I like to call this picture: "The most awkward pose ever"

The sliding glass doors go to our room. Notice those awesome curtains? Yeah well, they are drop cloths…I can't find any curtains I want to commit to yet. 

MeeMee bought Reagan a new pin wheel and she is obsessed!

Have I mentioned I am married to this stud? Yeap that's right folks…he's taken.

Tuesdays

I am sitting on the back porch writing this and watching Reagan play in the dirt. Oh summer, you cannot get here fast enough! She will play outside for HOURS on end. Just digging thru the dirt, picking up rocks and pulling weeds. It's actually quite relaxing and she entertains herself which is an added bonus. Well, it's all fun until she just walked up and said, "Look momma! I got a rock in my mouth!" And show's me a mouth FULL of a rock and dirt!!! How gross!!

Tuesday's we usually go over to grandmother and granddaddy's house to visit. This past Tuesday I took my new camera just for fun. I am still in the very early stages of learning to work it, so don't judge!

Can you see the love? I am not sure who loves tuesdays more, Reagan or my grandparents? It is a tradition we have started in the last year or so. It doesn't hurt we both are very spoiled when we are there!! My grandmother buys Reagan a bag of puffed popcorn EVERY SINGLE WEEK. And ohmy does Reagan LOVE it! Also, need to mention sweet Aunt Janice. I am pretty sure Reagan thinks Janice is there to do whatever she wants. She can usually con Janice into giving her at least 20 marshmallows while we are there. I think Reagan knows an easy target when she see's one!!!  :)

Family Pictures

So as I mentioned a few posts ago, we had family pictures taken. They turned out great considering we had a very active two year old who was NOT in the mood for pictures in the least! These are just a few of my favorites. 

A couple of these are going to be blown up and on the walls in pretty frames! I can't wait. Have I mentioned I GOT A NEW CAMERA? I am obsessed. I wanted to sleep with it, hold it and take it to work with me today. It has a TON of buttons and settings so it will be an adventure to figure out. But I can't wait to be able to take some pictures like these for myself. 

On another note. My kid has been HILARIOUS! Some of her funnies lately in no particular order. 

-While on the phone with my mom: "Reagan what are you doing?" and she replies "I'm just potty training"

-We are driving down the road and she is in the back seat talking to herself…."I love uncle Robert, he's my friend"

-While singing to herself: "A,B,C,D…jesus loves me…now sing with me" I tried to tell her those were two separate songs, but she wasn't having that.

-I asked her what she is going to see at the aquarium this weekend and she said "fish, dolphins and Jesus" 

-She thinks that McDonald's is called "old mcdonalds" (as in old mcdonald had a farm) and we don't correct her because we think it's cute!

Weekend Update

AHHH it's been a good week/weekend at our house. No fun or eventful stories during the week that I can think of. Friday afternoon we were outside playing after work. Well good ole Murph has been pretty trustworthy up until then. And then….he just disappeared? How does that happen in 2 seconds? Long story short we found him running thru the Marina. He was muddy and wet so apparently some part of his adventure included water? Well he KNEW he was in trouble because he was determined not to let us catch him. We eventually succeeded but it took awhile. Needless to say, he is back to wearing his shock collar. And for all of you who think that's sad. You chase him around the huge front yard for awhile and you won't think it's sad at all.

So after that excitement, we decided to go to the gymnastics meet. Reagan like the gym meet pretty well. But, she LOVED riding the bus to the coliseum (we parked near the soccer fields) and the fireworks before it started. She sweetly began referring to it as the "magic meet".

Saturday TC went to race his sport bike at Barbers Motor Speedway. He loved it. I am just thankful he didn't wreck and is still alive. It wasn't technically a race but more of a ride on the track kinda thing. It's hard to explain. Reagan and I spent the day with MeeMee shopping around T-town. I probably could have spent a million dollars at the Hob Lob...

This morning (Sunday) we unfortunately lost an hour. But, still made it to church. TC and I both have talked endlessly about church lately. We are both so excited to become a part of a new church. We both feel like this is a new step in our lives and it is really exciting.

And the most fabulous and exciting news of the weekend?
I GOT A NEW CAMERA!!!! I am so very excited. A HUGE thanks to my husband who allowed me to spend a large amount of money for this. I know it hurt your wallet!! :)

A dress!

Ok folks here it is. I know you all have been anxiously (insert sarcasm) awaiting some results. The first pieces of her dress all sewn together and actually on her.

(Excuse the blurry iphone pic). This was just to see if it was even going to fit and if I was headed in the right direction? When I slid it over her head, some seams ripped and she sweetly said "whooooops!" Kinda got me excited even though its not even all together. Since I took this picture I have ripped it all apart and am starting over. I decided it needed and intervention in places. The easiest way was to just begin again. My baby also sweetly said, "this cute…..and precious!". She totally didn't care the seams look HORRIBLE!!! 

In other news. If you know me well then you know I LOVE HOT ROLLERS. Yeap, it's true and I just admitted it on the internet. Anyways. Mom bought Reagan some foam curlers at wally world yesterday and I was excited to try them in her hair. She pretty much looks like my mini me in a nightgown and rollers. Poor TC when we walked in the room just had to laugh. He is out numbered because now there is two of me. . . 

Weekend Update

Well, it was another great weekend at the Lightsey's. Thankfully all the bad weather missed us on Friday afternoon. Let me rephrase, our neighbors in northern Alabama were hit. Our prayers are with them because we sure know how that feels. But, the bad weather missed us in Tuscaloosa county. We had a romantic dinner at Wendy's and dessert at McDonalds all for under $10 bucks. Thanks 99 cent menu!

Saturday morning TC had a few errands to run so he asked Reagan if she wanted to go? She jumped up and yelled, "Momma, get me dressed! I'am leaving!" So as soon as I got her dressed she said, "wait I need my purse!!"

I lazed around the house till about 2pm then headed out to pick up my Tahoe from the Chevrolet dealership. It was getting a part fixed and they gave me an Equinox to drive for a few days. Needless to say I was ready for the ole hoe' back. I missed her, BAD! We then went to a family birthday party for Reagan's second cousin Sidney. She was turning 3 and had a "super Sidney" hero themed party. (She has an older brother who is totally into super heroes).

And that my friends brings us to today! We were up and at em at church by 9:30 and heard another phenomenal service. (I love when you just know you are meant to hear it). It was all about not giving up. Something I can be guilty of alot of the time.

Lastly, my most favorite photographer Mary Keeley McAllister came to the house and did family portraits. Our attire was definitely summery so we froze our butts off! It was also windy, but Reagan held out longer than I expected. Hopefully we got some great shots. Murphy posed in a few with the family. And he seriously sat there, looked at the camera and posed! My plan is to blow some up, get them framed and put them on a "blank" wall I have been saving.

Tornados

UGH…Seriously, tornados? Tuscaloosa has officially freaked out. All schools and businesses have closed. The whole city is sitting at home watching James Spann. When I left work this afternoon around 3:30 there was absolutely NO traffic on a Friday. I think April 27, 2011 is on everyone's mind. Fingers crossed all the bad stuff misses us. The Lightsey's had dinner plans, but just gonna watch the weather and see what happens. For sure not getting out in the nastiness with my baby girl!!

Day Two...

Day two of sewing. What was I thinking? I don't think I have ever watched as many YouTube tutorials on sewing. This is going to be a project that takes some time. Maybe I should have decided to paint. In retrospect that seems much easier. Anyways. Maybe by the time Reagan is 20 she can wear something i've made. I would post a picture of the progress, but there is none! I'am pretty sure one of my creations would look a little something like this….

Today was another successful day at Ballet. My kid LOVES ballet. What can I say? I cannot wait for the days of recitals and tutus. In other unimportant news, I have decided to cook at least 4 nights a week. I've done well this week. We'll see how next week goes. We are looking forward to the weekend. Family time, birthday parties and we have family portraits scheduled. Gonna be busy and fun!
